    General Scope and Summary

    SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for an important role that is responsible for leveraging his or her market knowledge and modeling expertise to generate in-depth, customer-focused analytical insights, articulate actionable recommendations, and drive critical business decisions. Working closely with Marketing, Finance and Sales Analytics, this person will be responsible for designing and executing advanced statistical analyses and customized forecast models. This individual will help identify key drivers and performance metrics to achieve optimal returns/optimal resource allocation. This position will also have regular interaction with Commercial and Senior Leaders and require an ability to present complicated analysis to individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Business Analysis & Forecasting

    • Perform advanced statistical analyses with market knowledge and modeling expertise to identify patterns within the data, uncover insights/brand opportunities and articulate actionable recommendations
    • Maintain all forecasts for our launched products (in-line), as well as, our pre-launch product candidates
    • Work with stakeholders to align on assumptions for multiple forecast scenarios
    • Support Brand planning and strategy through segment performance analysis, forecasting and promotional response models
    • Conduct secondary data and behavioral analyses of HCPs, Patients, and Payers to understand influences and drivers of business performance (e.g. SOV projections, Source of Business Analysis, etc.)
    • Enable senior management to make informed, data-based driven decisions by providing business analysis and analytical support, particularly in areas where data is difficult to assess/unreliable and a high level of analytical skill is required
      • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for brands that are aligned with strategy and support design and development of standard reports
      • Work with head of Commercial Insights to articulate and present updates on Commercial performance to Senior Executive team
    • Contribute to the evaluation, analysis, integration and correlation of available data sources such as secondary market audits, primary market research, competitive intelligence, sales analytics data, financial data and managed markets data

    Market Intelligence

    • Establish early-warning system to proactively assess/identify market threats, brand opportunities and performance goal attainment
    • Build and maintain a database of all insights and performance data generated relative to the business; including market and competitive trends, health care environment influences and investment performance against various channels
    • Provide ad hoc and recurring secondary data reports and analysis to marketing and senior management as requested
    • Ensure all relevant information from other functions is integrated into analyses and insights


    Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

    Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills, ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action; excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

    • BA or BS required, MBA preferred
    • 5+ years of appropriate business experience in marketing sciences or business analytics function in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or consulting firm
    • 2-3 in forecasting with MBA, or 3-5 years’ experience with BA or BS
    • Strong analytical skills with fluency in the use of a wide range of secondary data sources including, but not limited to: standard sales, prescription, medical, and promotional audits, as well as general business and pharmaceutical industry sources of intelligence is required. Experience with longitudinal patient, specialty pharmacy/hub data preferred
    • Applied experience in building and maintaining robust forecasting models and thorough understanding of various time-series and patient-based forecasting techniques
    • Experience with forecast and data analytic tools like @ Risk, Flexicast, Forecast Pro, Crystal Ball, Tableau a plus
    • Fluency in Excel, Access and in PowerPoint is required
    • Deep expertise in generating commercial insights from large transactional data sets
    • Possess a strong understanding of industry secondary data and syndicated sources and their strength and weaknesses
    • Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders. An ability to influence for greater outcomes
    • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors
    • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, problem solving/resolution, and customer focus.
