    General Scope and Summary


    SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful and highly motivated finance professional to contribute to the development of a leading Program and Corporate FP&A capability. The primary objective for this individual is to partner with Program Management and other key stakeholders to provide financial support for multiple therapeutic Development Teams. This position will play a significant role in supporting FP&A’s budgeting, forecasting and management reporting processes. The right candidate will also have a strong desire to contribute beyond this primary responsibility, contributing to financial analysis across an array of FP&A initiatives.


    Roles and Responsibilities


    Program FP&A

    • Partner with Program leadership to develop and maintain strong financial management and analytical support for Program Development Teams
    • Proactively identify and communicate financial risks and opportunities versus current plans
    • Actively collaborate with Functional FP&A peers to ensure appropriate communication and issue resolution through the Functional lines
    • Play a key role in driving planning exercises with in-depth knowledge of Development Team activities and timelines
    • Maintain and improve monthly reporting of Program financial performance

    Long Range Planning (LRP)

    • Coordinate with LRP/BD Manager to ensure alignment of LRP assumptions with team plans and help facilitate appropriate vetting of LRP scenarios
    • Collaborate on portfolio scenarios, which drive long range analytics and product valuations

    Corporate FP&A

    • Collaborate across Finance, Accounting and Admin Functions to drive cross-company analytics (e.g., headcount and benefits costing, space planning, etc.)
    • Hands-on participation in the development and refinement of materials, which support Board Meetings, earnings calls and other corporate deliverables
    • Drive industry analysis

    Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills


    Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills. A proven ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way, orchestrate plans to resolve issues and translate strategy into action.

    • BS in Business or Finance
    • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Financial Planning & Analysis
    • Experience within a drug development company
    • Experience with Oracle and Hyperion Financial Planning a plus
    • Strong commitment to the team dynamic and the importance of customer service
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of an organization
    • Must possess creativity and intellectual curiosity while maintaining attention to detail
