    General Scope and Summary

     

    SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for a highly visible role that is responsible for providing the Commercial Organization with relevant, proactive, and timely customer insights required to inform the strategic choices necessary for global product commercial success. Provides leadership in driving market research, generating and embedding customer insights into decision making across multiple customer types. Proactively partners with Marketing, Program Teams, New Product Planning, Market Access and other key stakeholders, this individual participates actively in commercial planning efforts and ensures effective cross-functional communication and alignment on critical business issues. Ultimately leads a team of market research professionals in developing and executing customized primary research solutions, delivering customer insights to drive improved decision making. Identifies opportunities and leads the development and deployment of innovative approaches and techniques in market research that reflect best practices.

    Roles and Responsibilities

     

     

    Market Research

    • Identify and prioritize key business questions for further work across key markets for SAGE assets
    • Lead market research for all SAGE assets, including the identification of market research needs, with subsequent formation of integrated insights plans in collaboration with key markets
    • Accountable for the design, execution (on time and within budget) and interpretation of market research
    • Communicate relevant findings and implications across stakeholder groups and leadership levels, effectively pulling through change within the broader organization
    • Co-Lead development of the annual situation assessment with global brand lead for marketed products or assets approaching launch
    • Identify and implement the appropriate resources, individuals and team support required to build a leading market research capability supporting multiple Sage product launches; adapts and prioritizes resources to the needs of the business as priorities evolve
    • Function as a key business partner to the Global Brand Lead and engage as a core member of the global brand team
    • Liaise with Competitive Intelligence and Forecasting/Analytics peers to build a strong and integrated functional insights capability and unit
    • Hire and develop direct report(s); team size will grow over time as SAGE assets mature through clinical development 

    Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

     

    • BA, BS degree required. Master's degree in business or science preferred
    • 10+ years’ related experience in marketing sciences or market research
    • 5+ years’ experience in the bio/pharmaceutical or related field with direct responsibilities using research and analytics to influence the decision process of brand and commercial leadership strategy in support of US marketed products; launch experience is a plus
    • Experience managing projects, budgets and timelines with vendor partners in the market research space
    • Demonstrated experience leading, building and growing teams
    • Ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendation
    • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action; excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks
    • Solutions oriented team player; able to develop rapport and credibility with field and multi-disciplinary corporate staff and with external partners and vendors.
    • Demonstrated ability to proactively partner with and influence senior levels within and across functional teams
    • Broad experience in the key functional areas of market research including design and analysis of primary market research, secondary data analysis and higher-level analytics, such as models and forecasting
    • Experiences of both strategic and operational research techniques and business issues
    • Experience delivering superior analysis and embedding insights to drive business decisions
    • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills; concise and impactful written and verbal communication skills
