    General Scope and Summary

     

    SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for a highly visible role that is responsible for providing the Commercial Organization with relevant, proactive, and timely forecast updates required to inform the strategic choices necessary for the success of SAGE. Actively partner with Marketing, Program Teams, New Product Planning, Market Access, business development and forecasting colleagues across markets. Work with forecasting colleagues embedded in key regions to establish best practices, tools & methodological standards – to drive transparent range-based forecasting and generate/communicate “one version of the truth”. This individual will be focused on establishing actionable forecasting insights, enabling the setting of appropriately-ambitious goals for the company, and ensuring that we help manufacturing plan for the appropriate level of product needed globally. The individual will have regular interaction with commercial and company senior leaders and must demonstrate an ability to present complicated analysis to individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds.

     

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Build forecast model for SAGE assets that support financial planning processes and supply chain planning
    • Build and maintain in-line and pre-launch asset forecast models
    • Effectively collaborates with a broad set of business counterparts (including Marketing Research, Marketing, Pricing & Reimbursement, Portfolio & Program Management, and Business Development) to plan and execute accurate forecasts, interrogating and aligning assumptions
    • Identifies and assesses analogs where appropriate to inform forecasting assumptions
    • Development of a range of forecast scenarios and ad hoc sensitivity analyses to inform critical decisions that influence business shape and strategic direction
    • Design and deploy insightful, concise forecasting reviews that effectively drives team understanding and focused decision-making
    • Liaise with Competitive Intelligence and Market Research peers to build a strong and integrated functional insights capability and unit
    • Responsible for generating, presenting, defending and maintaining forecasts of products and markets with a high degree of precision, insight and transparency
    • Responsible for ensuring timely and high quality forecasting deliverables for a number of mission-critical corporate processes (e.g. annual long-range financial plan)
    • Independently leads matrix teams in the development of objective, strategic, event-based product/market forecast models for new launch products/new indications
    • Selects appropriate forecasting approaches and forecast models to address specific business questions
    • Identifies, gathers, and rigorously analyzes information to generate a deeper understanding of customers, brands, diseases, markets, and competitive environments; Proactively identifies external and internal events/factors that influence sales forecasts, providing both clear guidance on potential impacts and recommendations on appropriate course of action
    • Help support the valuation of potential in-licensing/business development opportunities
    • Effectively collaborate with a broad set of business counterparts to drive adoption and utilization of new forecasting tools & best-practices across functions & geographies

    Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

    • Bachelor of Science degree; MBA is preferred
    • 7+ Years minimum working experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related pharma experience.
    • 5+ Years experience pharmaceutical brand forecasting (preferably a mix of operational & strategic)
    • Proven track record of driving broad organizational and/or culture change, preferably across multiple geographies
    • Ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of constituents, across multiple geographies
    • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, and find innovative ways to improve operations
    • Effectively build long-term relationships with customers both within and outside of the organization
    • Objectivity and good judgment to reduce risk around forecast accuracy & product development initiatives
